Have you gotten your 2018 LL Bean gift catalog? If so, you probably saw something very familiar on the front cover. It’s the National Elk Refuge’s historic Miller House. A production crew and special effects team spent two days in July at the iconic homestead replicating a winter holiday scene, and capturing images for the widely-distributed seasonal catalogs that feature clothing and outdoor recreation equipment. Senior Photo Producer Melissa Klein explained that shooting out of season isn’t ideal but is necessary considering the production time it takes to put together the catalogs. By the way, Refuge Manager Brian Glaspell’s red Siberian husky, Quinn, made a cameo appearance and showed up on the company’s website as well.
