Saturday is May 22nd, and several calendars still list the annual Boy Scout Elk Fest as being held then. That listing is incorrect. Due to the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event is for the second year being postponed to the fall and will be held on October 2nd.
As usual, the event will include one of the most significant auctions of elk antlers in the world, exhibits of scoutcraft, a display from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and there is talk of a possible elk bugling contest this year. The October 2nd date puts the festival right about at the time that visitors to the park can listen to the elk bugling during the fall rut.
