Elks To Mark Davey Jackson Grave

Jackson Wyoming Namesake Davey Jackson was “buried by sympathetic Masons” anonymously in 1837 in an unmarked Tennessee grave. Members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Jackson Hole Masons and the local Elks Lodge have decided to right the wrong and place a memorial stone on his grave. A bronze plaque will also be placed at the Paris, Tennessee cemetery, which will promote the history of Jackson’s Hole. In order to raise funds for the project, the cooperating organizations will host a dinner Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Elks Lodge featuring Shepherd’s Pie with Lockhart Beef for $15 plate. Others cooperating in the project include the Henry County Cemetery Restoration Committee; David Webb, Henry County Historian; the State of Tennessee; and the John Babb Chapter, and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
