The call came in at 11:09 a.m., alerting Jackson Hole Fire/EMS and the Teton County Sheriff’s Office to a potentially severe situation involving a large barn that also houses residential units.
The first responders from Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Station 3 arrived at the scene at 11:32 a.m. to find significant smoke emanating from a multi-use structure. Quick action by both residents, who used a hose to control the spread, and emergency crews confirmed that all individuals were safely out of the building. The fire was primarily contained within the chimney, requiring multiple crews to access and extinguish it. Fire suppression was officially under control by 11:57 a.m.
Support from various stations across the region, including Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Stations 1, 2, 6, and 7, ensured comprehensive coverage with additional engines, water tenders, and ambulances on site. A total of 26 JHF/EMS personnel were involved in the operation. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries to either the public or first responders.
Assistant Chief Brian Coe highlighted the significance of the new Astoria bridge in improving response times to this remote area. Fire Marshal Raymond Lane is currently investigating the cause of the fire, with a report to follow.
