The fire perimeter on the Swinging Bridge Fire held overnight at 80 acres and fire officials authorized the return of evacuated residents to the areas of Henry’s Road, Game Creek, Squaw Creek and Porcupine Creek subdivisions. Evacuations of those areas came immediately and unexpectedly at about 5:45 pm Sunday after a wildfire broke out above the Swinging Bridge south of Jackson and quickly spread. Units from Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, Teton Interagency Fire, Grand Teton National Park and a variety of air resources quickly responded to the fire and protected structures in its path. Incident Commander Dave Wilkins says power lines and some poles in the area were damaged and the power outage in the subdivisions would remain until the power company could assess the damage and make repairs. Additional fire resources have been brought in today and Wilkins says he hopes to move into a mop-up stage quickly. Cause of the fire is undetermined.
