The Senate yesterday approved two legislative packages that together make up a nearly $1.4 trillion spending deal to keep the government funded and avert a shutdown at the end of the week. With both packages passed, the deal will head to President Donald Trump for his expected signature. Government funding was set to expire at midnight on Friday. The effort to keep the government open comes amid a historic impeachment push and followed a vote in the House of Representatives on Wednesday to impeach the President.
