JH Public Art is set to host a bilingual community event titled “No Longer Invisible: A Community Discussion” on Friday, April 26th at The Center Theater in Jackson, Wyoming. The evening will begin at 6:00 pm with a reception featuring a diverse array of food and drinks from Latin America and the Caribbean, including pupusas, tamales, tacos, regional desserts, and coquito.
At 6:30 pm, the program will continue with the premiere of the film “Invisible in Plain Sight” followed by a panel discussion. The film, part of a broader photojournalism project by Jessyca Vianey Valdez Perez, explores the lives of immigrant families in the Teton region who have shared their experiences through this initiative.
Community Discussion
The discussion will provide insights into the challenges and stories of these families, shedding light on their journey and acclimation to life in one of the wealthiest counties in the U.S. This event aims to foster understanding and connection within the community through these personal and powerful narratives.
The event is free and open to all, offering an opportunity for attendees to engage with the panelists and learn more about the immigrant experience in Jackson Hole from those who live it. Jessyca Vianey Valdez Perez, a noted photojournalist and the project’s creator, will lead the discussion. Her work focuses on illuminating the often unseen challenges faced by immigrants in the region.
This engaging evening is supported by various local and national arts organizations and promises to be an enlightening experience for all who attend.
