A newly built fire training building located at Adam’s Canyon Station 7 is to be dedicated Wednesday evening in memory of a Jackson/Teton County fireman who died of cancer in 2017. The training structure is a three-story building which will allow the fire departments within the county to train on a large number of required skills. The training structure is being dedicated to the memory of Captain Mike Tepe, and the dedication will take place in the presence of his family and fellow fire fighters that evening, while demonstrating some of the capabilities that the building offers. Tepe had joined Jackson Hole Fire/EMS as a volunteer in November 2006. He was originally assigned to Station 2 due to the need for manpower, but he soon moved to Station 6, which was his home for the remainder of his career. Tepe was instrumental in the acquisition and setup of a new rescue truck and new engine at Station 6, and he mentored many new firefighters, launching them into their careers. Members of the community are being encouraged to attend the 6:00 pm event. Hors d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages will be served the conclusion of the dedication.
