A late-night fire ravaged the Rusty Parrott Lodge in downtown Jackson last night, sending patrons fleeing into Miller Park. Units arriving to the call around 11:30 pm found flames leaping high above the roof of the downtown motel. At one time, Fire Marshal Kathy Clay says firefighters from Jackson, Wilson, Adams Canyon, Teton Village and Hoback were fighting the blaze. In spite of the effort, Clay terms the damage suffered by the property “significant.” A portion of the building collapsed as a result of the fire. All of the accommodation’s patrons or staff evacuated the building unharmed. Initial indications suggested the fire appeared to have started outside the building in the patio area, although investigations have just begun.
