Fire danger is considered moderate in Yellowstone National Park but there are no fire restrictions currently in place in the park. Campfires are only permitted within fire rings in our campgrounds and some backcountry campsites. Fireworks are not allowed in the park or on other federal lands. All campfires must be cold to the touch before leaving them.
Soak, stir, feel, repeat. Earlier this month, Teton Interagency fire managers announced the fire danger rating had been elevated to “moderate” for the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Grand Teton National Park, National Elk Refuge, and remaining portions of the Teton Interagency Dispatch area. The potential for fire activity has increased due to the summer curing of vegetation combined with warmer and windy conditions. So far this season, there have been more than 27 unattended campfires across the Teton Interagency Dispatch area.
