Smoke became very apparent Sunday afternoon from a fire burning six miles southwest of Wilson near the boundary between the Bridger-Teton and Caribou-Targhee National Forests above Mosquito Creek. Estimates put the fire, Called the Smokey Hollow Fire, at about 10 acres. The fire was burning in grass, brush and some timber. The fire is burning in very steep terrain with an estimated 50% slope. Multiple falling snags and high winds are affecting firefighter’s ability to engage the fire safely. No structures are threatened. The public is asked to stay out of the area. Cause of the fire is undetermined but likely was started by lightning.
