Firefighters have been making excellent progress in keeping the fire season in this region in check with all the current fire activity contained or doused. Among them, the Mosquito Fire which was sparked by lightning on August 9th has been completely contained at 6 ½ acres.
The Wallace Fire, Spread Creek Fire, and Moran Fire all started by lightning last week have been declared out as is the human-caused Fremont Lake Campground Fire. At this time, the Willow Creek fire and the Twin Lake Fire are both contained at less than 2 ½ acres collectively.
Both of those fires are under investigation as to their causes. To date, there have been 155 illegal or abandoned campfires found and addressed in the Teton Interagency Dispatch area
