Starting tomorrow, May 15, personal use firewood permits will be available for purchase on the Bridger-Teton National Forest. The cost is $7.00 per cord, with a minimum purchase requirement of five cords for $35.00. Each household can buy up to ten cords of firewood in total. This means that an individual can initially purchase a permit for five cords and then, after cutting and hauling that wood, purchase another permit for an additional five cords to reach the household limit.
Permits can be purchased in person at district offices or ordered by phone. For phone orders, customers must call a district office, provide the necessary information, and then receive the permit by mail. Once received, the permit must be signed and dated before collecting firewood.
It is important to note that all forest off-road travel restrictions are in effect and will be enforced. Firewood collectors must be aware of their locations and any current travel restrictions.
