Jose Donaire-Duarte, a 21-year-old from Spain, was sentenced to seven days in jail and two years of unsupervised probation following an incident in Yellowstone National Park. U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie A. Hambrick imposed the sentence on August 28, after Donaire-Duarte was found guilty of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in the Mammoth Hot Springs concession area, where Donaire-Duarte, intoxicated, began sexually harassing a fellow resident after leaving a social event hosted by Xanterra, the concessionaire for Yellowstone National Park. According to court documents, Donaire-Duarte grabbed the victim around the waist, held her tightly, and repeatedly grabbed her buttocks. The victim managed to break free and run, but Donaire-Duarte pursued her, grabbing her by the shoulders and pulling her close again.
The situation escalated when Donaire-Duarte followed the victim to her dormitory room, where he climbed on top of her in bed, pinning her down until a third party entered the room, prompting Donaire-Duarte to leave. The National Park Service conducted the investigation, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ariel Calmes.
