The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is advancing the designation process for the Sublette antelope migration corridor, a critical pathway for one of the longest pronghorn migrations in the West. Following public meetings held in western Wyoming last month to discuss the corridor and its biological risk assessment, the department is now seeking public comments. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on May 2, 2025. Comments can be submitted online via the Game and Fish website or mailed to the Pinedale Regional Game and Fish Office at PO Box 850, Pinedale, WY 82941. These comments will be reviewed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission ahead of its July 2025 meeting in Evanston.
The Sublette antelope migration corridor, identified by the Commission in March 2024, supports pronghorn traveling up to 360 miles round-trip from summer ranges in the Wyoming Range, Bondurant, and Jackson Hole to winter ranges near Pinedale, Green River, and Rock Springs. The designation process, guided by Wyoming’s Mule Deer and Antelope Migration Corridor Protection Executive Order, involves assessing risks like habitat fragmentation and human development. At the July meeting, the Commission will vote on recommending formal designation to Governor Mark Gordon, potentially unlocking funding for conservation measures such as wildlife-friendly fencing and habitat restoration.
