The Roosevelt and Marten Creek Wildfires are extremely active, prompting game managers with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to alert hunters they need to monitor the Bridger Teton National Forest (BTNF) website http://www.fs.usda.gov/btnf/ or check the website https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/ before going into the backcountry to hunt or do any outdoor recreational activities where there is fire danger. The BTNF Facebook page is also providing regular updates on the situation. Pinedale Wildlife Supervisor John Lund said the Bridger-Teton has two large closures because of wildfires, which is impacting hunting access in parts of the Wyoming Range and Hoback Basin. “Since these closures mainly involve deer and elk hunt areas with general licenses, hunters will still have options to hunt in other areas until fire activity and human safety concerns are reduced. These forest closures are likely to change and hunters are encouraged to refer to the BTNF and InciWeb websites for current updates before heading into the high country. Detailed maps of area closures can be obtained there.”
