Dr. Scott Coleman of the Park County, Montana Health Department is advising residents of his county, which includes a northern portion of Yellowstone, Gardiner and Paradise Valley, that the state has extended its stay at home order through the 24th of April. However, the efforts that have been observed by the public so far have been effective. Still, Dr. Coleman is concerned that the Easter Holiday weekend may tempt some to socialize and urges physical distance.
Coleman said, “We need to connect with our loved ones, friends and family; but we should not congregate. We should not welcome travelers into the community. We place them at great risk in their travels, we place ourselves and our families at great risk in receiving others from outside of Montana, and we place this fragile, hard-earned relative safety in our county at tremendous risk if we let our guard down now.”
Dr. Coleman says the projections of recovery from COVID-19 in Montana have improved significantly, but they are only projections, and cannot be considered any more reliable that predictions prior to a horse race.
