Gas prices surge in region

Hold onto your socks – prices at the gas pumps across the state and in the Greater Yellowstone area are surging ever higher! Our weekly check of gasoline prices nationwide shows prices increased 60¢ this week, according to AAA Auto Club. They report the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular across the 50 states this week is now $4.25. AAA says the national average has not been this high since July 2008.
Meanwhile, the average in Wyoming according to AAA is up 47¢ at $3.92 per gallon with the lowest price currently found in Rock River and Ranchester, at $3.49 per gallon. At the same time, the average price for a gallon of gasoline at eight stations surveyed in Jackson Hole is up 35¢ to $3.95 per gallon. Prices in the valley range from $3.59 per gallon to $4.26. In Teton County, Idaho, AAA reports the average price for a gallon of regular is now $4.39, while the statewide average in Idaho is now $4.17 per gallon.
The Energy Information Administration says consumers can expect the current trend at the pump to continue as long as crude prices climb.
