The Jackson Giants baseball team went winless over the weekend, surrendering 64 runs—an average of nearly 7 runs a game. Friday’s road trip to Utah resulted in two losses to BlueChip North and BlueChip White—14-1 and 12-4 were the finals there. The Giants then raced home to host the Belgrade Bandits out of Montana for a doubleheader Saturday night. Jackson hung tough with the Bandits in the first contest, finally losing 5-1. The second game was closer than the final score would suggest. Scoreless through 4 innings, the pitchers’ duel became a blowout when the Giants melted down defensively and finished on the wrong end of a 16-3 final. The Giants dropped their 5th straight in a Sunday rematch with the Belgrade Bandits. After taking an early 2-0 lead, it was all Belgrade from there in a 17-3 loss for Jackson. The Giants fall to 3-8 on the season. Jackson is right back in action, hosting the Hillcrest Knights Monday at 4pm. That game will be broadcast live on KZ95.
