Giants return home off a win in Evanston

July 14, 2021 by Jackson Hole Radio

The Jackson Giants split a doubleheader with the Evanston Outlaws Tuesday. Evanston’s Gus Allred quieted Jackson bats in the early game but the Giants offense came to life in the nightcap for an exciting 4-run victory.

Allred was all Evanston needed in game one of a doubleheader Tuesday. The Outlaws posted 3 runs in their half of the opening frame and never looked back.
Allred threw a 2-hitter—only Matt Fisher and Bridger Hammond were able to solve the outlaw pitcher who struck out 7 in 5 innings of work.
Kade Foulke (1-4) took the loss for the Giants, giving up 6 earned runs on 7 hits. He walked 4 and struck out 5.

Post 43 rebounded nicely in the late game, jumping on the Outlaws for 3 in the 1st inning. Evanston tied the game briefly at 6-6 in the 4th inning but Jackson added 4 more in the top of the 5th to cruise to an 11-7 win.
Steven Ashurts (3 for 3 with 2 triples), Parker Bleggi (2 for 4, 1 double, 2 RBI), Ayden Gralund (2 for 5, 1 RBI), Matt Fisher (2 for 4), and Austin VanSkike (2 for 3, 1 double, 1 HR, 2 RBI) led the offense.
Ashurts (3-3) pitched well enough to get the win. The big southpaw threw 4 1/3 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 11 hits. Parker Bleggi notched the save by working 2 2/3 innings of stellar relief.

The Jackson Giants record is now 9-38. Post 43 returns home after a long road trip to take on Rock Springs this Friday. The doubleheader begins at 5pm. Before the game, coach Jason Huggins, former player Tim Shibuya, and longtime Giants advocate Michelle Doyle will be inducted into the Wyoming American Legion Hall of Fame.
