Giants still stuck on 7 wins after road trip

June 28, 2021 by Jackson Hole Radio

The Jackson Giants need a win in the worst way. But a trip to Bozeman over the weekend failed to provide one as Post 43 was outscored over the 5-game roadtrip 52-12. The Giants fall to 7-27 on the season, riding a 14-game losing streak.
Coeur d’Alene 11, Jackson 5
Errors, miscues, and missed opportunities were again the Giants’ undoing as they matched up against Couer d Alene to begin weekend play on Thursday afternoon.
Jackson ace Kade Foulke labored for the second straight outing as he struggled to find his command—walking 6 but striking out 6. Foulke was tagged with the loss despite surrendering just 1 earned run on 2 hits in 4 innings of work. Austin VanSkike worked the final 3 innings. Seven runs were scored on him but none of them earned.
Connor Lang (2 for 4, 2 RBI, double), Parker Bleggi (2 for 4, 1 RBI, double), and Grant Parkin (2 for 4, 2 RBI) led the offense that also left 9 men on base.
Fairfield 10, Jackson 1
The Giants ran into a bit of stellar pitching against the Fairfield team from California. Offense was hard to come by as Aaron Huggins managed Post 43’s only base hit.
Connor Lang was saddled with the loss in his first appearance on the hill this season for the Giants. Lang worked 6 1/3 innings, allowing 9 earned runs on 11 hits.
Helena 9, Jackson 1
Parker Bleggi came to play Friday afternoon against the Senators. He went 3 for 3 with a double. Ayden Gralund, Lukas Gralund, and Grant Parkin also had hits but it wasn’t enough to get past Helena.
Steven Ashurts took the loss, working 2 2/3 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 5 hits. Parker Bleggi and Owen Khanna also pitched out of the bullpen.
East Side 17, Jackson 2
The East Side Baseball Club out of Washington can certainly hit the ball a little bit. Grant Parkin found that out the hard way as he was tagged with the loss. In 3 1/3 innings he allowed 15 runs (6 earned), on 8 hits and 7 walks. He also served up 2 homerun balls.
Aaron Huggins’ bat continues to come alive. He went 1 for 1 with an RBI. Steven Ashurts and Parker Bleggi also managed a hit each in 3 trips.
Idaho Falls 5, Jackson 3
The Giants let one get away Sunday against the Tigers. Post 43 hit the ball well, and got some decent pitching from Aaron Huggins and Matt Fisher, but 4 errors and 11 left on base worked against the Giants.
Steven Ashurts and Parker Bleggi paced the Giant offense with 2 hits a-piece. Jackson managed 9 hits overall but could not bunch them or get them when they mattered most.
Next up
Post 43 heads back to Jackson for a 2-game doubleheader homestand with the Casper Oilers on Tuesday afternoon. This weekend will be a big one with the Giants hosting the annual Teton Classic Tournament over the holidays. Jackson will face Thunder Ridge, Idaho Falls, Sugar, Madison, and Rock Springs.
