The Jackson Giants beat Green River in American Legion play broadcast on KZJH radio on Friday.
Jackson struggled most of the game to get anything going against Green River’s starting pitcher Ramsay Taliaferro. The Knight’s hurler threw seven innings surrendering just one run on two hits while striking out eight Giants batters.
Taliaferro also had a monster day at the plate, going 4 to 5 with three RBIs. But Jackson bided their time, falling behind 6 to 1 at one point, until a dramatic come-from-behind victory. With Taliaferro out of the game, Jackson scratched across two runs in the 8th to pull a little closer. When closer Ryan Cranston slammed the door on Green River with a 1-2-3 top half, Jackson came to bat in the bottom of the ninth needing four to win. Connor Lang delivered a bases-clearing, 3-run triple down the right field line for the Giants walk-off win, 7 to 6 the final score.
The win improves Jackson’s record to 3 to 3.
Next up the Giants is two-game road trip Friday to Utah before returning home to host the Belgrade Bandits for a doubleheader Saturday night. KZJH will broadcast the game.
