Giants Win Against Sheridan Troopers

The cardiac kids have not made life easy for manager Jason Huggins all season and round one of the post-season was no different. The Post 43 Giants never trailed in their win over the Sheridan Troopers Wednesday afternoon but that didn’t mean they didn’t save a little drama for the final inning. With starter Seth Christiansen in total control on the mound for Jackson, the Giants built an 8-1 lead thanks, in part, to Christiansen himself whose 3-run homerun in the 3rd broke a 1-1 tie. The Giants added another in the 4th, 3 more runs in the 5th and it looked like Huggins could finally relax after a season of heart palpitations. But Christiansen began running out of gas late in the game, surrendering 2 runs in the 6th and by the 7th inning he was played out at 106 pitches. Connor Lang came in to get the final out but not before allowing a 2-run double that made it an 8-6 Giants win, closer than it should have been. The Giants now face the Gillette Riders Thursday night at 7pm. The Giants won the only regular season meeting between the two teams—a 9-2 victory on July 10.
