Wyoming Senator Mike Gireau has sponsored Senate File 111, the Wyoming Financial Transparency Act, which would require reports from the state Treasurer’s office advising the status of Wyoming’s accounts. Gierau says it is a simple matter of the Legislature needing to know what the state has in its coffers – especially during a budget session.
“I said it on the floor and I’ll say it again, I don’t believe there’s any problem with our funds or the status of our funds. I believe that, but I don’t know it. And the problem is and the point of this is that neither does the treasurer – and I think that’s kind of the key.
The bill overwhelmingly passed an introduction vote in the Senate Friday and was referred to the Senate Corporations Committee.
