Governor Mark Gordon has ordered that both U.S. and Wyoming state flags be flown at half-staff statewide on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in observance of Patriot Day. The flags will be lowered from sunrise to sunset to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Patriot Day was established by Congress in 2001 and is observed annually as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Governor Gordon emphasized the importance of remembering the lives lost and the resilience shown on that tragic day.
In his statement, the Governor said, “This day serves as a reminder of the strength, resilience, and compassion we possess in the face of devastating loss. I urge all citizens to take a moment to honor those who were lost, injured, and saved lives, and to never forget.”
