Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon last week signed into law a bill creating a new state lodging tax. The bill saw overwhelming support in both the state House and Senate. Gordon comment about the bill’s passage, “Tourism represents an enormous opportunity to grow our economy. I want to commend those who supported this legislation, which reflects a true agreement between industry and state government.” Gordon noted that Wyoming is in competition with its neighbors for visitors and tourism dollars. With the money generated from the new tax, Gordon says the state needs to continue to stimulate tourism in all regions of our state, not just those that receive the heaviest visitation.
