Governor Mark Gordon Friday announced during a news conference that Wyoming’s first new public-health orders to limit spread of the coronavirus since last spring are coming soon. However, the governor stopped short of suggesting what they might be. Gordon pointed out that the state has relied on its citizenry to be responsible about keeping themselves safe from the virus by wearing masks and social distancing, but that is not working. Gordon said “It’s time that Wyoming woke up and got serious about what it’s doing.” Gordon complained that people are being what he called “knuckleheads” about the virus. Wyoming now ranks behind only the Dakotas for new coronavirus cases per 1,000 people, according to Johns Hopkins University’s database on the virus. Gordon said the increase in cases and deaths in the state look not so much like a curve as a trajectory. The new orders are expected in about a week.
