Bear lovers are gearing up for the dedication of a bronze sculpture of Grizzly 399 and her famous four cubs from 2020. The dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 1, in front of the National Museum of Military Vehicles in Dubois, Wyoming.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will start at 11 AM in the Pascal Poolaw Administration Building, located immediately east of the Museum. The one-hour presentation will feature speakers including Dan Starks, Louisa Willcox, Sandy Scott, and the co-founders of the Deidre Bainbridge Wildlife Fund.
The 8-foot tall sculpture was created by renowned wildlife sculptor Sandy Scott and cast at the Eagle Bronze foundry in Lander, Wyoming. The project was made possible through donations and the cooperation and sponsorship of the Museum.
After the ceremony, attendees can enjoy lunch at the Museum’s Canteen and take a tour of the Museum. Guided tours are available, and reservations are recommended. The sculpture is now installed with appropriate landscaping and signage, making it a notable stop for those traveling to the parks or on day trips from nearby towns.
Visiting the Museum and seeing the sculpture provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Dubois and learn about the history honored by the $100 million Museum, which commemorates veterans of three wars.
