Grizzly and Cubs Wander South

Author and Reporter Todd Wilkinson has reported on Facebook, along with a video, Grizzly Bear 399 and her four cubs have wandered southward from Grand Teton National Park to the West Bank of the Snake River, and have crossed the treacherous Moose-Wilson Road twice. Moose-Wilson Road (also known as Teton Village Road) is notorious for people driving too fast, not paying attention and has resulted in a lot of moose getting struck and killed. Grizzly 399 has never before gone to that part of the valley. Motorists are urged to pay close attention if they are traveling on the road.

Also, homeowners who live in the vicinity need to be alert and keep their pets indoors. There has been a lot of speculation about why 399 and her cubs have ventured into that part of the valley and theorize that 399 is hungry and has had difficulty putting on weight with four other mouths to feed.  Mark Gocke of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department says Game and Fish personnel are actively monitoring the situation.
