With the cautions related to the COVID pandemic, many in the community are debating whether or not to allow their children to go around trick-or-treating Saturday night. If they do, advise the children to social distance while doing so. Jackson Hole Crimestoppers reminds parents to make sure drivers can easily see their children. Make sure small children are accompanied by an adult. They should be coached not to be distracted by a cell phone during the trick-or-treating rounds, and cross only at corners.
Crimestoppers suggest children trick-or-treat in neighborhoods where the residents are known, and check the children’s spoils for possible tampering before allowing them to eat them. Halloween pranksters need to know there is a difference between a prank and vandalism. A prank that leaves damage in its wake is nothing less than a criminal act. If you see others engaging in inappropriate behavior, report it to authorities immediately by calling 733-2331.
