St. John’s Medical Center and the National Museum of Wildlife Art have entered an unique collaboration to promote healing through sensory perception. 12 John James Audubon reproduction prints from the museum’s Education Collection have been temporarily relocated St. John’s Medical Center. The works shared are sweet, contemplative scenes from John James Audubon’s portfolio of North American birds. The arrangement is part of the hospital’s Art & Healing program which displays calm, restorative artworks that might help people recover from injury, trauma, surgery, or sickness. Blair Christy, Director of Patient Experience and Volunteer Services explains that healing art is an important piece of the hospital’s care, and the Audubon reproductions are what she calls “a wonderful complement to [the] guest collection on display there.”
