The Teton County Health Department and St John’s Health Center have been bombarded with calls from concerned residents who believe they have been exposed to the COVID virus through close contact with an infected person or an intermediary who has been infected. County Public Health Response Coordinator Rachael Wheeler says the calls have been interfering with health officials’ ability to work through the process and determine who may have been exposed. Wheeler says residents should rest assured that health officials are diligently doing contact tracing and will contact those who may have been put at risk as soon as possible. Wheeler says if a concerned resident has not heard from a health official in 72 hours and has a legitimate reason to be concerned, they may call the health department after the wait. She urges residents, “Give us time to work through the process.”
