High speed chase through Jackson leads to arrest

August 9, 2022 by Jackson Hole Radio

Multiple calls from concerned citizens to the Jackson police department on Sunday morning ended after a police pursuit and the driver in custody.
Just after 6:00 am, Teton County dispatchers received multiple calls about a vehicle which was driving recklessly.
Officers from the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Police Department, and the Wyoming Highway Patrol began searching for the driver.  At 6:25 am, off-duty deputies spotted the vehicle heading northbound on US 89 near the gun club.
The vehicle was traveling northbound at 75 miles per hour; however, it was driving in the southbound lane.
When officers attempted to stop the car, it sped off through town on Broadway reaching speeds of 80 miles per hour.
The chase ended when the vehicle turned onto Jean Street crashed into a bush.
A 41-year-old man from North Las Vegas was arrested and charged with driving under the Influence of a controlled substance, reckless driving, speeding 75 MPH in a 30 MPH zone, failure to maintain a single lane of travel, stop sign violation, fleeing and eluding a peace officer, and interference with a peace officer.  He is currently being held in the Teton County Detention Center on a $7,500.00 cash bond.
