The Jackson Hole Historical Society & Museum is seeking public input on the initial designs for a new History Museum & Campus to be located on the southeast corner of the historic Van Vleck Block. In 2019 during the Jackson Hole Land Trust’s “Save the Block” campaign, the Historical Society and Museum board identified the Van Vleck Block as the ideal permanent home for the nonprofit organization.
Voters in the November 2019 Special Purpose Excise Tax ballot agreed, approving a tax to partially support the project with a majority vote. In October 2020, the purchase of the lot was completed.
The museum board is now ready to unveil the initial designs and gather valuable community input as the progress moves forward.
A session via Zoom on August 24th will include short presentations by lead architect Joan Soranno, with exhibit designer Patrick Gallagher, and Executive Director Morgan Jaouen.
After viewing initial schematics, attendees will be asked to make brief responses on digital sticky notes. All attendees will be thanked with a free pass to the current Museum for use in 2021.
