Firefighters serving the Hoback area of Teton County will be getting a new home, but they still have to wait a few years. According to Fire Chief Matt Redwine, the county purchased the site of the old Horse Creek Station restaurant south of Jackson and so far, has been able to demolish the condemned buildings on the site. Redwine says specific plans have not been drawn up for future construction on the site, but in concept, it is to include a five-bay firehouse and adjacent county workforce housing. The design is also to be worked out in cooperation with the Wyoming Department of Transportation as they reconstruct the highway past the property. Redwine says the station will be constructed with Special Purpose Excise Tax money to be approved by county voters during the next cycle. Cost of the project he says may be in the ballpark of $4-million dollars, but the amount will become clearer after a site plan and building designs are drawn up.
