St. John’s Medical Center is removing an aging building located on the southwest corner of the hospital campus as it readies for the groundbreaking of their Sage Living Center this spring. The building being demolished is decades old, and has served multiple purposes over the years. It was originally used as an office for the hospital administrator. More recently it has been used as storage and staging for the hospital’s construction department. The building site will replace parking spaces that will become unavailable once construction begins on the community’s new senior living center. Sage Living, once completed, will provide three neighborhoods for long term care, including memory support, and one care neighborhood for rehabilitation services. Funding for Sage Living comes from the Specific Purpose Excise Tax and a partnership between St. John’s Medical Center and St. John’s Hospital Foundation.
