Hughes Foundations aids fight against indigenous violence

Statistics that continue to emerge around the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous people are truly shocking.
The rates of violence against indigenous individuals largely women, girl, and two-spirit people are exponentially higher than those against any other group in the United States and Canada and Department of Justice say the numbers may be 10 times higher or more.
But efforts are being made to address the issue.
The Hughes Charitable Trust Foundation is supporting The Sovereign Bodies Institute and its work.
Molly Hughes says, “I’m absolutely in awe of the work that SBI is doing in this arena. They are inspired by their own experiences with violence against indigenous people and uniquely poised to do this amazing work.”
The Jackson Hole foundation has stepped into the gap financially to support SBI and its groundbreaking 3-prong model to combat the pervasive violence and trauma inflicted on indigenous people.
SBI has first of a kind database of cases of missing and murdered indigenous women and running from the early 1900s to present day.
