Teton County Sheriff’s Department received a report Saturday night from hunters who happened upon wreckage of a plane crash in the Gros Ventre drainage.
Upon investigation in the daylight, it was determined the wreckage was decades old, but officials are still trying to determine the exact incident represented by the wreckage.
The plane was apparently a Mooney, but records conflict regarding just when it went down or the circumstances behind the crash. An investigation is currently underway to correct the discrepancy so that the crash can be correctly catalogued.
