Twenty of Yellowstone National Park’s gray wolves that roamed from the park were shot by hunters in neighboring states in recent months. Fifteen were killed in Montana. The remainder of the wolves died in Idaho and Wyoming.
Yellowstone officials say it’s the most Yellowstone wolves killed in a season since the predators were reintroduced in January of 1995.
Yellowstone Superintendent Cam Sholly has urged Montana Governor Greg Gianforte to halt the hunting of wolves in the vicinity of the park.
