Captain Bob bequeaths Village home to Community Housing Trust
Jackson Hole icon and founder of KMTN radio, Captain Bob Morris died three years ago, but his legacy remains.
Morris had made arrangements to donate his home in Teton Village to the Jackson Hole Community Housing Trust.
The home, known by some as ‘the bunker’ is worth approximately 5 million dollars and will be sold by the Trust to raise funds for affordable housing projects in Teton County.
Teton Village home one of Trust’s biggest gifts
Anne Cresswell, Executive Director of the Community Housing Trust, called the donation one of the biggest gifts the non-profit has received in its 32-year history.Cresswell praised Morris for his foresight and leadership, and ultimately his generosity.
Morris, who died at the age of 87, made affordable housing one of the central planks of his many campaigns for Teton County Commission. He previously sold a pair of Teton Village condos in 2001 for half their assessed value.
Captain Bob was beloved Jackson Hole character
Cresswell said, “Capt. Bob was a beloved character in our community who touched so many people’s lives and had so much to share,” she said. “His unrelenting commitment to this issue over several decades is inspiring.
“For him to do this at the end of his life, make this contribution, people should know. It’s an incredibly meaningful gift.”
