Teton School District 401 Superintendent Monte Woolstenhulme announced Monday evening that the district’s bank alerted him earlier in the day that “Comerica Bank has represented a return of approximately $484,000.” The funds were part of a fraudulent payment of $784,000 discovered by the district on December 20th. The district is cooperating with the FBI, its insurance carrier and financial institutions in ongoing investigations of the fraud as well as conducting its own internal investigation. Woolstenhule’sannouncement came at a work-session of the school board at the district office in Driggs Monday night. During the meeting, the district also released a list of Frequently Asked Questions about the fraud case, posted on the district website at tsd401.org.Woolstenhulme says he hopes to have to another update, with the exact amount and confirmation that the recovered funds have been received by the district, for the public and board at next week’s regularly scheduled monthly board meeting.
