The Idaho State Police are currently investigating a tragic two-vehicle accident that occurred on US26 near Palisades, Idaho. The incident took place at approximately 2:16 PM on December 14, 2024, at milepost 391.
According to the ISP, a 66-year-old male from Shelley, Idaho, was driving a 2018 Jeep Renegade eastbound when the vehicle unexpectedly crossed the center line. The Jeep collided with a westbound 2020 Freight 114SD Snowplow, driven by a 48-year-old male from Swan Valley, Idaho.
The driver of the Jeep suffered fatal injuries at the scene. His passenger, a 67-year-old female, was injured and was taken to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance. Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The accident led to the closure of both eastbound and westbound lanes on US26 for about four hours, significantly impacting traffic in the area. Assistance at the scene was provided by multiple agencies including the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho Falls Ambulance, Swan Valley Fire Department, and Bonneville Sheriff’s Office.
