The Federal Reserve Bank’s annual Economic Policy Symposium is to be virtual for a second year. The announcement was made Friday on the Kansas City Federal Reserve’s website.
In that announcement, President and CEO of the Kansas City Fed., Esther George said, “Due to the recently-elevated COVID-19 health risk level, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City will host its 2021 Economic Policy Symposium, “Macroeconomic Policy in and Uneven Economy” virtually on Friday, August 27th. While we are disappointed that health conditions will prevent us from being able to gather in person at the Jackson Lake Lodge this year as we had planned, the safety of our guests and the Teton County community is our priority.”
The symposium in Jackson Hole is one of the longest standing central banking conferences in the world and typically draws about 120 participants from as many as 70 countries.
It was to take place August 26th through 28th. Calling off the in-person event has already led to a host of cancellations at area lodging.
