The 27th annual International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race has its ceremonial start tonight at the Jackson Town Square. IPSSDR Director Dan Carter says there will be plenty for spectators to enjoy.
“We’ll kind of kick of the festivities at 5:30/5:45. We’re going to have a laser light show and then the first teams will leave the chute at 6:30 – and we do a dual start, so we’re going to have two teams going out at once and they’ll go out every two minutes. So you can come down; there’ll be a food vendor there if you want to get some hot food. I think the Wort hotel’s going to have a booth with hot chocolate – hot coffee.
The initial start is not timed and will proceed east on Broadway, south on Redmond and then west to Phil Baux Park. Because of the proximity of spectators, Carter advises that face masks should be worn. The official start of the race will be 9:00 am at Black Rock Ranger Station at the foot of Togwotee Pass on Saturday.
