The emergency closure of Yellowstone has impacted some areas outside the park. Caribou-Targhee National Forest reports there has been a surge of traffic within the Ashton/Island Park Ranger District in Eastern Idaho.
As a result, campground concessionaires and hosts within Island Park are being overwhelmed with visitors trying to find alternate locations.
The forest asks that the public be patient as they are trying their best to answer questions and help folks out as best they can. Also, as a reminder, any reservable campground spots can only be reserved by going thru recreation.gov just like in the National Park.
