To say Jackson did not play its best game last Friday is the understatement of 2020. The hometown Broncs looked tight after an opening drive stalled out on downs, the Cody Broncs used the momentum swing to dominate in every aspect. By contrast, everything Jackson tried blew up in their faces. Four turnovers on downs, four fumbles (one for a turnover), 3 interceptions (one a pick-6), and three punts indicates the kind of night it was for Jackson—whose vaunted offense didn’t find paydirt until the game’s waning moments. To add to the hometown team’s miseries, Jackson also had the injury bug bite hard on Senior Night. Colter Dawson came up gimping on a tender ankle. He was far from 100% after getting his ankle taped. Lineman Jacobo Martinez and fullback/linebacker Clancy Meagher both left in the first half with lower leg injuries and did not return. The loss means Jackson has to travel to Cody if those other Broncs make it to the state title game. Any other scenario keeps Jackson at home for the post season run. Jackson now faces Riverton this Friday in the semi-final round. The Broncs defeated the Wolverines earlier this season, 57-7.
