Wyoming High School Cross Country state championships were moved up a day to Friday in anticipation of bad weather over the weekend. The time change didn’t bother Jackson, as the Broncs took home both the boys and girls team state championships on Friday hosted by Kelly Walsh High School at the Paradise Valley Country Club in Casper. The boys’ teams finished with 78 total points, and the girls’ team finished with 45 total points. For the boys, senior Ben Williams took first place in the 5k. Mason Wheeler, a junior at Jackson Hole HS took 3rd. Junior Brandon Brazil, Axel Klomparens, Roman Goralski, and Juan Flores also helped pace the boys to their state title, narrowly defeating Cheyenne Central and Sheridan who finished 2nd and 3rd. The girls top 5k finisher was junior Kate Brigham who grabbed 3rd place overall. Senior Parker Smith was not far behind in 6th, followed by Sarah Trujillo, Muriel Jones, Jacie Chatham, Annika Peacock, and Zaidee Smith. The girls easily claimed the top spot.
