Teton County Search and Rescue reports that a skier suffered a lower leg injury Monday, after descending Pucker Face, a steep backcountry zone just south of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort boundary.
Jackson Hole Ski Patrol responded initially, and after assessing the patient, alerted Teton County Search and Rescue that the skier would need a helicopter short-haul extraction.
Ski patrol packaged the patient as Search and Rescue was responding and the patient was short-hauled to an ambulance at the base of Teton Village and transported to the hospital for treatment.
Search and Rescue volunteers and Jackson Hole Ski Patrol train together multiple times a year in order to perform such seamless responses in the lift-served backcountry.
