Jackson Hole’s Old Bill’s Fundraiser Reaches Record

October 26, 2023 by Jackson Hole Radio

Celebrating Philanthropy: Old Bill’s Fun Run 2023 Hits Record Highs

The spirit of giving is alive and well in Jackson Hole, with the annual Old Bill’s Fun Run 2023 once again setting trecords in community fundraising.

A Monumental Year in Numbers

The Community Foundation of Jackson Hole proudly announced that this year’s event raised a whopping $27.9 million in support of local nonprofits. This marks a staggering 40% growth from last year, powered by 24,197 individual gifts from over 4,000 donors. To put the impact into perspective, throughout its 27-year history, Old Bill’s has channeled over $256 million towards Teton County nonprofits, proving its unmatched legacy.

In the words of Community Foundation President Laurie Andrews, “Old Bill’s is the heart and soul of our community – beautifully supportive and bursting with zeal.”

Magnifying Impact with Matching Grants

This year, participating organizations enjoyed a 66% matching grant through Old Bill’s. In essence, nonprofits that raised a commendable $30,000 or more in designated gifts were rewarded with a matching grant of $19,740 by the Community Foundation.

The benevolent duo, Mr. and Mrs. Old Bill, were once again at the forefront of generosity, contributing the first $1 million for matching funds. Their continuous support has amounted to $15 million to the match pool since the event’s birth. The season also saw a record partnership with 99 CoChallengers, emphasizing the collective spirit of giving.

Board Chair of the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, Julie O’Halloran encapsulated the sentiment perfectly: “Old Bill’s is a testament to community unity and the tremendous impact of collective generosity.”

Acknowledging Excellence: The Spirit of Old Bill’s Award

During the Awards Celebration on October 25th, the Hughes Charitable Foundation, represented by Molly and Wayne Hughes, was honored with The Spirit of Old Bill’s Award. Their transformative $6 million gift was directed at housing and staff sustainability for local agencies.

“The Spirit of Old Bill’s Award goes beyond philanthropy, it celebrates individuals and entities making game-changing contributions to our community,” Laurie Andrews remarked.

Attention Nonprofits: Check Pickup Reminder

Nonprofits, remember to collect your grant checks by November 30th at the Community Foundation. Any unclaimed grant checks post this date will sadly result in the forfeiture of the matching grant.

Spanning over nearly three decades, Old Bill’s Fun Run remains one of the nation’s most innovative and successful philanthropic initiatives. Envisioned by the generous Mr. and Mrs. Old Bill, the event has fundamentally transformed local fundraising, shining a spotlight on community needs and nonprofit organizations.
