The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many business plans for operating this summer season. Today, Vail Resorts announced that Jackson Lake Lodge and Jenny Lake doge are not expected to operate in 2020 and many service and facilities will be impacted.
The company noted that because of guidance from the National Park Service as well as the CDC and public health authorities, it will not be possible to house their large number of seasonal employees in shared dorms and they are significantly modifying their operating plans for the 2020 season.
Here is a list of facilities that are affected:
- Colter Bay Village
o May 22: Convenience Store
o June 5: Campground, RV Park, Tent Village (Tent Cabins), Grocery Store, Launderette, Gift Shop
o June 15: Cabins, To-Go Food and Beverage
o July 1: Group Camping (subject to change)
o TBD: Marina Gas and Public Launch, Slips, Buoys & End Ties, Canoe & Kayak Rentals
o Not expected to operate: Motorboat Rentals, Lake Cruises, Fly or Lake Fishing, Marina Store, Corrals and Activities Desk
Headwaters at Flagg Ranch
o June 5: Camping, and RV Park operations, Convenience Store
o June 15: Cabins, To-Go Food and Beverage
o Not expected to operate: Corrals, Gift Shop, Bar, Coffee Café
- Jackson Lake Lodge: Not expected to operate
- Jenny Lake Lodge: Not expected to operate
- Fly and Lake Fishing: Not expected to operate
- Gros Ventre Campground: Expected to open May 29
Vail Resorts says some lodging/cabin/camping types listed may not be available or may have limited inventory. Also, stay-over housekeeping services have been discontinued for the safety guests and employees.
The company added that some operations could open later in the season if restrictions are lifted or loosened.
